There is so much information on diets and exercise available, it can be overwhelming. Let's examine some of the most common myths about exercise, weight loss, and how to remove belly fat.
Myth 1 - It's best to exercise in the morning.
This turns out to be false. There are minor, insignificant advantages to exercising early in the day. It is more important to exercise regularly and intensely. If you aren't morning person and will give it a half-hearted effort, it's much better to do it later in the day. Better to exercise 5 evenings a week, than 2 mornings. One of the best things about exercising in the morning, is psychological. You know it's done and you can feel good about that all day.
This also turns out to be false. Using a treadmill, exercise equipment such as a stationary bike, or elliptical machine is better than nothing, this type of "steady pace" cardio work may not be all it's cracked up to be. Especially when done while watching TV or reading. If you can engage in other activities, you aren't working hard enough to get the results you want.
Recent research is suggesting that physical variability is one of the most important aspects to consider in your training. This means short bursts of exertion followed by short periods of recovery called "interval training". Some of the potential benefits of this short burst type of exercises compared to steady state exercise include improved cardiovascular health and reduced joint wear and tear.
You will definitely get more results spending less time if you include strength training, especially if you want to burn belly fat.
Myth 3 - You'll should do long cardio sessions to lose weight because you'll burn lots of calories.
Again, not true. You will burn calories, of course. But one of the added benefits of strength training is that you build more muscle. And muscle burns more calories 24/7, even while you sleep. So actually strength training and not cardio burns more calories.
Myth 4 - The right stomach workout will give you six pack abs.
Again, this is false. We all have ab muscles but they can lie hidden beneath layers of fat. While you can firm or tone your abs, if they are hidden under layers of fat, they won't show up as the six pack abs you desire.
You can't spot reduce the fat away. You can't remove it doing crunches, sit ups, or using bdominal workout machines. The answer is to remove belly fat is to combine a healthy diet plan with a total body fitness program that includes strength training. Doing so will increase your metabolism and fat burning hormone levels. The right diet and exercise program combined will get you much better results than doing just one or the other.
I hope we have cleared up some common misconceptions about exercise and how it can be used to reduce fat fast or if done incorrectly, actually help keep you fat. Too many people waste time walking on the treadmill and doing sit ups and not getting the results they want. Now you know better. Now you understand that the keys to lose weight and remove tummy fat are interval training, strength training, and finding a healthy diet plan you can stick with.
